What is SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM?

SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM is the first and only injectable treatment that delivers microdroplets of hyaluronic acid to the skin of adults over the age of 21. Unlike other facial injectables that enhance and augment the treatment area, SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM improves skin quality in the cheeks by smoothing the skin and increasing hydration. Patients treated with SKINVIVE report high satisfaction with their skin, and use words like “glowing,” “refreshed,” and “healthy” to describe how their skin looks after treatment and over the course of six months.* SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM is brought to you by the makers of the JUVÉDERM® Collection of Fillers.

*Lasts 6 months with optimal treatment. Glow was reported by patients using a satisfaction questionnaire which included how radiant their skin looked.

SKINVIVE Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to be treated?
Treatment typically takes about 10-15 minutes, with minimal to no downtime.
What is the treatment like?
First, you’ll meet with a clinician to chat about your medical history and treatment goals. This will help us determine if you’re a suitable candidate for treatment. (Pro Tip: come to the office without makeup on!) Then, we will examine your facial skin, take photos, and—if they think you’re a suitable candidate—offer up a few different options for pain management. Next, the treatment area will be cleaned and prepared with an antiseptic, and we may use a pen to mark and identify the areas we’d like to treat. After the first injection, we will wait a few seconds before moving forward with treatment. SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM contains lidocaine to reduce injection site pain, and this break in treatment allows time for the anesthetic to take effect. Then we will inject microdroplets into the treatment area. Afterwards, we may massage the area gently to make sure that the product is evenly distributed, then apply ice to minimize swelling and reduce pain.
Does it hurt?
During your SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM consultation, ask about numbing options—especially if you are sensitive to needles— because there may be minor discomfort during and after the treatment. As previously mentioned, SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM contains lidocaine to reduce injection site pain, but we may also choose to numb the treatment area with a topical or injected numbing agent to further minimize discomfort. Ice may be applied for a brief period following treatment to minimize swelling and reduce pain.
When will I see results?
SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM provides results over the course of six months, without requiring a recurring series of treatments. In clinical studies, 56% of participants in the treatment group showed long-lasting, enduring improvement in skin smoothness on their cheeks at 6 months after treatment/touch-up. Not only that, 84% of subjects were satisfied with how healthy their skin looked at one month, and 83% at six months (in comparison, only 38% of subjects felt this way pre-treatment). Overall, patients reported how glowing, hydrated, refreshed, and healthy their skin looked after treatment. (As measured using the Satisfaction with Skin module of the validated FACE-Q questionnaire. Glow was reported by patients using a validated questionnaire that included satisfaction with how radiant their skin looked.)
Are the results permanent?
Results typically last through six months with optimal treatment.‡ Once the effects wear off, you’ll need another treatment to maintain results. Consistent re-treatment can help add HA, which increases hydration in your skin. While individual results may vary, results may last for six months. Individual results may vary. ‡A touch up treatment may be required to achieve desired goals.
What should I do (or not do) after treatment?
For the first 24 hours after treatment, avoid alcoholic beverages, strenuous exercise, and exposure to extensive sun and heat (as these may cause temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the injection site). Consult with us for further aftercare guidance.
