We’re all doing our best to utilize “social distance” right now, and stop the spread of Covid-19. But you’ve worked so hard and come so far, and don’t want to lose progress toward your weight loss plan. If you can’t go to the gym for a bit, try some of these methods to exercise while staying at home.
Sign up with a virtual trainer. Personal training at a gym can carry a hefty price tag, and we can’t go to the gym now anyway. Virtual trainers are much more affordable, and you can get some of the same great benefits such as expertise, tips on proper form, and motivation. Research your services carefully and choose one that suits your needs; some are giving promotional offers at this time.
Check out Youtube. Youtube offers a wealth of information that you can access from a smartphone or smart TV. Search for yoga, Pilates, or Zumba classes.
Use your own body weight. Even with the gym closed, you can still tone and strengthen your muscles without access to a weight room. Push-ups, planks, lunges, squats, and other body weight exercises can still offer a great workout.
Turn up the music and dance. We’re all living through a worrisome time, and the anxiety is getting to many of us. Take your mind off of the crisis at hand, and boost your mood (and heart rate) by turning on your favorite music and dancing. The whole family can join in, and you can make some good memories even during a time of hardship.
Pick up some used equipment. Perhaps a neighbor has a used treadmill or stationary bike that they would loan to you, or even sell outright. It can’t hurt to ask around the neighborhood! Just use social media, text, or phone to arrange everything in order to minimize contact. Then wipe down new equipment with sanitizing wipes before bringing it into your home.
